New 2017 Mazda3 Sedan at Hiley Mazda of Hurst

The Mazda3 sedan returns for the 2017 model year with new improved refinement and some adjustments in packages and trims. Newly standard is Mazda's exclusive technology called G-Vectoring Control, which uses the engine to refine handling and match driver's inputs. Additional sound insulation has also been added on all Mazda3 sedans.  The Mazda3 lineup has been simplified. The sedan still comes in Sport, Touring and Grand Touring trim levels. But instead of models being designated as "i" or "s", Mazda has simplified the lineup with Sport and Touring models being equipped with the smaller engine and Touring 2.5 and Grand Touring models being equipped with the larger offering. The top-level, stick-shift Mazda3 Grand Touring is now available with the Premium Package and i-ACTIVSENSE suite of advanced safety technologies. The Mazda3 is back with improved handling and a refined cabin. If you are interested in learning more, read on.

Powering the Mazda3 Sedan

For power, the base Mazda3 Sport models come with a 155-horsepower SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter engine that is mated to either a SKYACTIV-MT six-speed manual transmission or a SKYACTIV-DRIVE six-speed automatic.  The Touring 2.5 and Grand Touring get their power from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 184 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. It can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The Mazda3's mileage depends on the engine-transmission set up, but numbers range from 28 mpg combined with the 2.5-liter engine and the six-speed manual up to 32 mpg combined with the 2.0-liter engine and the automatic transmission. Overall the Mazda3 has excellent handling dynamics, it's acceleration is smooth and quick. If you are looking for slightly more power without sacrificing fuel economy by a lot, the 2.5 -liter engine is he way to go. If getting the top mileage possible is you priority, then go with the smaller engine.
