Here’s the deal. Your little car just isn’t big enough anymore. Either the family has been growing or you don’t have the cargo space that you need to keep up with your hobbies and traveling. Don’t panic; it’s okay. We have a solution for you. The 2016 Mazda CX-3 is just the vehicle you need for both traveling to your usual haunts in Hurst, Texas, and exploring new territory outside the city.

The Great Mazda Crossover

Mazda is known for producing smaller, sleeker, faster cars that are built to handle beautifully while still maintaining an excellent fuel efficiency. However, Mazda has branched out and for several years now has been producing the CX line of mini crossover vehicles. This may be Mazda’s attempt at reaching a broader customer base, but hey, it works for us.

The 2016 CX-3 continues the tradition of Mazda excellence. Ranking No. 1 in its class, according to Car and Driver, the CX-3 combines the sporty, responsive Mazda handling (reminiscent of something like a hatchback) with the size and space of a crossover SUV. The standard CX-3 comes ready with 12.4 cubic feet of trunk space with the seats up and up to 44.5 cubic feet with the seats down; plenty of room for any cargo ranging from groceries to your golf clubs.

Not only will the CX-3 get you to your destination smoothly, it will also do so in safety. The 2016 earned a perfect five-star overall crash test rating, thanks to the standard antilock brakes, traction control, side curtain airbags, front side airbags, and a rearview camera as the cherry on top.

Wait, that’s not quite the cherry on top. Mazda is known for having the best fleet-wide fuel economy in the world, and even with a normally gas-guzzling crossover, Mazda has held its own with the CX-3. In the city, the front-wheel drive CX-3 weighs in at 29 miles per gallon, and on the highway, a whopping 35 miles per gallon. Yep, 35. That’s better than many sedans.

So let’s go over what we have so far. The CX-3 has combined quick maneuvering with lots of space; it has excellent crash test ratings, and an astonishing fuel economy. Does this crossover seem too good to be true? Well just wait — we’re not done yet.

CX-3 Features

The standard 2016 Mazda CX-3 2-liter, 4-cylinder engine rated at both 146 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque. It comes standard with front-wheel drive, but with a 4-wheel drive option available at all trim levels.

In terms of features, the standard trim level comes equipped with push-button ignition, cruise control, Bluetooth audio and phone connectivity, voice controls, and a 7-inch touch screen. Higher trim levels offer things like heated mirrors and keyless entry (in the Touring), and a Bose sound system, automatic climate control, and other interior upgrades (as part of the Grand Touring).

If you’re looking for the sporty, efficient handling of a Mazda, in league with the size and power of a subcompact crossover, you’ve found it in the Mazda CX-3. This ride is perfect for a drive through Hurst, or even a long cross-country road trip.
