So, where is Mazda from, exactly? Mazda Motor Corporation was founded in Hiroshima, Japan in 1920. It produced its first passenger vehicle in 1940. At first, it was known for its three-wheeled motorcycles called “autorickshaws”. The company moved on to bigger and better things, of course, starting with compact cars, three-wheeled trucks, all the way to the impressive sports cars and SUVs it produces today.

What Country is Mazda Made In?

What country is Mazda made in? Most Mazda models are produced in various factories throughout Japan. However, about a third of Mazda vehicles are manufactured in other countries. Where is Mazda made in Japan? Here’s a list:

  • Mazda3 Models – This Mazda3 is mostly produced in Hofu, Yamaguchi, Japan. However, the engines and transmissions production are manufactured at the Hiroshima plants.
  • Mazda5 Minivan, Mazda CX-5, MX-5 Roadster, RX-8 – These models are made in the Fuchu, Aki District, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan facility in the Miyoshi ward. This is Mazda’s main manufacturing facility.
  • Mazda SUVs and Sedans – The manufacturing of most Mazda SUVs and sedans, except for the Mazda6, is spread out throughout Mazda’s Japanese plants.

Is Mazda Made in the US, Too?

Many Dallas drivers pride themselves on buying products that are made in America. So, is Mazda made in the US, in addition to Japan? Yes! The Mazda6 is produced right here in the USA. Where is Mazda made in the US? The Mazda6 is produced in two plants co-owned by Ford: one in Flat Rock, Michigan, and another in Claycomo, Missouri.
